Welcome to Museums411.com! We are the most comprehensive internet information portal for Museums, Historical Societies, Historic Sites, Aquariums, and Zoos located in New York State. Presently we have over 2000 institutions featured, and we are still growing strong!

Museums411.com has been in a constant state of evolution over the last 7 years. During this time we have encountered several setbacks, including multiple name changes, loss of funding and changes in our infrastructure. We think that we have finally gotten it right, and we are now proud to make our entrance on the internet scene! We are very excited to finally be up and operating! We hope that we can provide our users comprehensive access to all their Museum informational needs. Museums411 will the place to go to get all the information that you need when planning a visit to any New York State museum or historical society. We are dedicated to bringing you constantly updated information on many places of interest, including location, maps, hours of operation, exhibit schedules and audio and video clips.

This is our philosophy, and our goal is to offer equal representation for all museums and institutions that want to be included on our site. Inclusion is free of charge and open to everyone. We encourage everyone in the museum community to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to get their name out there and participate in this worthwhile project. Whether you would like to post a small listing, or a full page with professionally designed audio and video clips, there is no charge to the museums to be included on our site. Museums411 will do all the work, including photography and video. The more information that we get from each institution, the more interesting and useful our site will become to our viewers! We want every page to make a statement about your museum, and encourage people to visit. Whether you are a small historical society, or a large state museum, we want everyone to have equal representation on our site. Museums411 offers the public all the information that they need to make an informed visit to any of the over 2000 museums and institutions in New York State.

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new feature on our web site. It is called Kid's Corner and will be written by my 15 year old daughter Lexi. This feature will highlight museums and exhibits that are of particular interest to kids. She will interview museum personnel to get the inside scoop on all the exciting programs and exhibits that have been created especially for kids.

As a parent and a museum advocate, my choice of museums don't alway agree with my children's, so we decided to let the kids express themselves, and let both the kids and parents know what they think.

This Kid's Corner feature will be interactive with our web site visitors. Children and parents will be encouraged to e-mail Lexi Mae at our website to share their views and experiences. We will try to post as many of these e-mails as possible.

In the near future Museums411.com will be selling their Museum discount cards, these cards can be used for various discounts; such as buy one admission get one free, discounts at the gift shop, and other discounts on services at all participating Museums

Museums will also be able to purchase these cards to sell at their front desk or gift shop; it is a great fund raiser that will be enjoyed by everyone who purchases them. If your Museum is interested in being a participating member that gives some kind of discount to a SaveMoreGreen card, card-holder, please contact us by email or telephone and we will be glad to sign you up.

We will be using the revenue generated by these cards to keep the website up and running, as well as adding new features such as interactive directions, video clips, schedules of exhibitions and much more. We feel that the card will help institutions to bring more visitors through their doors while allowing them to enjoy the "Total Museum Experience"(TME). We will be contacting Museums in the coming weeks to see if they are interested in joining so that we can help make this experience a reality enjoyed by our cardholders and Museums as well.
