Since 1960, the National Foundation for Jewish Culture (NFJC) has been the leading advocate for Jewish cultural preservation and renewal in America. Founded by the Council of Jewish Federations, the NFJC works with artists, scholars, cultural institutions, and community agencies to enhance the quality of Jewish life in America through the arts and humanities.

In recent years, each of the NFJC's program divisions has experienced dramatic growth: grants to artists, scholars, and institutions; coordination of national cultural councils; development of local cultural initiatives; and sponsorship of conferences and publications on trends in contemporary Jewish culture.
