Lower Hudson Conference of Historical Agencies and Museums

Lower Hudson Conference provides Regional Services for Historical Agencies & Museums of the Hudson Valley and Greater Metropolitan Area.

We also provide training, networking and technical support to museums, historical agencies and historians in this National Heritage Area, where a rich and diverse heritage spans over 300 years. Together, nearly 400 members preserve, interpret and articulate the past.

What we do:

Lower Hudson Conference provides a means for communication, cooperation and heightened professionalism among the keepers of historical collections and the interpreters of cultural heritage.

LHC serves museum, historical societies, historic sites, archives, libraries, repositories and related cultural institutions, as well as county and municipal historians, educators and a spectrum of individual trustees, staff, volunteers and public audiences involved in community history.

Through workshops, communiqués and technical assistance, Lower Hudson Conference keeps you current. Our member network extends throughout Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Rockland counties, and includes neighboring metropolitan historical communities in Manhattan, western Connecticut and northern New Jersey.

LHC provides a forum for educational, cultural and tourism organizations collaborating to achieve a greater public access to our region.

LHC encourages organizations to provide professional development opportunities for volunteers and to engage professional consultants to enhance the operations of historical societies and museums.

LHC promotes participation in multicultural programming and cultural education opportunities among our members and their public audience.

LHC works to focus legislative attention on issues affecting the arts and humanities.

Lower Hudson Conference, a not-for-profit organization incorporated under the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York since 1979, is supported by membership fees, contributions and grants from the public and private sectors.
